We’re looking for an experienced Lead Fencer to join our team and take ownership of rural fencing projects across Taranaki.
Agri-Fencing Taranaki is a family-owned, forward-thinking fencing company delivering high-quality agricultural and environmental fencing throughout the region. Our work ranges from sheep and beef properties and lifestyle blocks through to conservation areas and more complex technical projects.

This role is suited to an experienced rural fencer who is confident on the tools and ready to take on more responsibility, lead jobs and help develop the next generation of fencers.
The Role
This is a hands-on, full-time position based in Taranaki and working region-wide.
As our Lead Fencer, you’ll be trusted to take ownership of jobs from the fence line through to day-to-day site coordination.
Your work will include:
Leading fencing crews and managing day-to-day job execution
Planning jobs around site conditions and specifications
Constructing agricultural and specialist fencing systems
7-wire post and batten fencing
Electric fencing systems
Post and rail
Conservation and environmental fencing
Operating tractors, post drivers, ATVs and other machinery
Liaising with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
Mentoring less experienced team members
Assisting with job scoping, quoting and materials planning
Maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and presentation
You won’t just be handed a hammer and told where to start. We want someone who can think through a job, solve problems and take pride in the finished result.
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll ideally have:
3–5+ years’ experience in rural or agricultural fencing
Strong practical knowledge of fence construction
The ability to work independently and lead others
Confidence operating rural machinery and equipment
Good communication skills with clients and team members
A full driver’s licence
Class 2 licence preferred
A strong approach to health and safety
Reliability and attention to detail
Pride in doing the job right the first time
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone dependable who knows their trade, enjoys good-quality work and is still interested in learning.
If you’re already an experienced fencer but haven’t formally held a “Lead Fencer” title before, don’t let that put you off. This role could be the next step.
